Digiwave DGL 1189D Linear/Circular LNB

The DGL 1189D Linear/Circular LNB is a great product for those just starting to use a motorized dish.

For those new to satellite two transmission methods are used linear and circular. In the past one has had to choose it they wanted linear or circular. If both were wanted then a second LNB had to be attached to the motorized dish.

The DGL 1189D provides linear/circular coverage in one neat package.

Satman tested this product using a Sonicview 8000 receiver and a KTI 1 meter dish with SG2100 motor. The product is advertised as being able to catch 119 and 118.8 .  On a Viewsat or Coolsat product set the LNB type to Universal and the LNB Frequency to 9.750/10.600  . Satman found 119 and checked signal levels. The Sonicview 8000 was then set for 118.8 and some operating transponders from Anik  F3 found on SATCO DX were programmed in and scanned. Excellent signal qualities were noted.

Next a trip to T5 (now officially G25) home of over 130 international channels. Signal levels were satisfactory.

T5 comparison tests showed that the Digiwave DGL-03U were equal in performance with the DGL 1189D . Satman also tested against the industry standard the Invacom QPH-031. The QPH -031 had quality about 10 points higher than the DGL-031. This is to be expected as the QPH -031 has a noise factor of .3 while the DGL 1189D has a noise factor of .5 .
