Policies


Mission Statement

Our mission is very simple. We want to provide you with the best satellite reception possible. We will provide cost effective solutions. However these solutions will never be compromised technically. If your application requires a 39" dish that is what we will sell you --we will not sell a 33" dish simply to meet other bids. We are engineering professionals. The job will be technically correct in accordance with good practices without compromise.

Doing the job right the first time is important. We sell mid to high range equipment for well established supplies with proven track records. We do not sell clones or low end equipment because our years of experience tells us the customer never gets good value for their money.

We work hard to maintain Winnipeg's lowest prices. To do this we market on the web, in Buy and Sell, Canstar Community Newspapers. The best advertising we have is satisfied customers telling their friends about SatmanCanada.com. We have home based businesses so we do not have storefront rent and maintenance costs. We buy product at the best prices and sell at the best prices.

The purpose of our website is to provide you with detailed information about our products and show you why we believe these products work the best. When we explain the requirements of your application we want you to be able to see documentation and thoroughly understand our recommendations.

No Clone Policy

We sell only genuine products. We work directly with company representatives to assure that you get the best products and that we will be the first to have new products as they are released.
Satmancanada's entire business policy is one of ethics. We believe in giving you technically accurate information about our products. Satman gives you the best products for your application so you do not waste money.

By using the word Clones - we are too polite - actually counterfeit satellite receivers are poorly made with no respect for quality control processes. In some cases they catch fire however in most cases they simply die after about 90 days usually from overheating as a result of poor design. The customer who buys a clone looses because there is no product support. Just because it looks the same does not mean it IS the same.

Some customers may find buying a counterfeit satellite receivers harmless enough. But pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, and food products have entered the Canadian market. If you do not want counterfeit breaks filled with sawdust on your car then you should not want a counterfeit satellite receiver in your living room. Since counterfeiters spend no money on research and development, marketing, or quality control, they operate with huge profit margins and can therefore offer their goods at what appear to be bargain prices.

Some big box retailer sell counterfeit satellite receivers as clone this leaves the customer in a buyer beware position. These big box retailers do not tell you they are robbing you by selling inferior products ,with poor quality, not designed or tested at all, nor do they follow any North American safety standards. These retailers don't care whether they work a week after purchase by then, its too late, they already have their money and you have a receipt that says no returns all sales final. Satmancanada does not believe that this level of marketing is ethical.

Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy is very old fashioned and simple. We collect information about you so we can ship goods to you, or come to your house to install or service something. We may use this information to help us better understand our customers needs and to provide insights into how we can market products to our customers. That is IT.

We do not sell our data base to any organization.

We use a secure server (SSL) for our information. However in light of many incidents with large corporations finding that outsiders have hacked into their so-called "Secure" systems, we simply choose not to trust this technology. Use old-fashioned common sense as a tool for keeping confidential information out of the hands of others. Just don't leave it anywhere, secure or otherwise, that could possibly allow it to be accessed by unauthorized persons.

Warranty

All our products came with a standard factory warranty.

Most factory warranties guarantee to repair our replace defective goods for a period of time. However the customer should understand that he may still incure costs. Most warranties require that you ship the product to the factory service center at your expense. Additionally you may pay service charges to have the product looked at by a technician to determine if the problem falls within warranty specifications.

Satman takes time to carefully evaluate all products prior to listing them on our site. Each product has a test report to so the customer can determine if the product meets his needs. We know that every product we sell will work for the correct application of that product. All products are tested with factory software and use of any third party software may alter performance of the device (ie receiver/switching or motor contol).

All sales are final. We will honor all products that are found in our professional evaluation to be warranty issues. Any product we have sold within our local trade area will be serviced on service call basis if the buyer has purchased the product as a do it your self project and finds that he needs professional help. Satman will make a determination as to the product is defective or user installation problems apply our decision is final.

Satman is not responsible for damages caused by wind, hail, lighting, or rain storm. Customers are advised to carefully read and understand the issues of rain fade in our FAQ section rain fade is a weather condition which Satman is not responsible for.

Retail Walk in Policy

Walk in retail purchases of LNB's will be exchanged immediately if customer installs and finds unit to be defective. Dishes and all other products are sold new unless stated as used. If you fail to follow accepted application practices as published on this web site we can not guarantee your satisfaction. In all T-5 and AMC-4 applications a 1 meter (39") must be used. Applications for 121 require a .8 m (33") In all single applications for 110,119,61.5,148,91,82 an 18" dish must be used.
For multiple applications 91/82,110/119 a 22" dish is recommended.
Motorized applications require a minimum .9 meter dish .

All "freebies"--up-grade cables, USB flash drives, and DISEqC switches are free therefore not under any guarantee.

Our website is designed to provide customers with support they need to self install our products. Between the hours of 0600 and 1900 CST we supply limited phone support to customers. Phone support is provided ONLY to satmancanada.com customers. If you are not a satmancanada.com customer we will provide professional support at service call rates.

Viewsat Warranty

Viewsats comes with a 1 year warranty. Please note that the customer may be liable for the shipping cost related to the repair or replacement of any unit.
If your Viewsat unit needs repairs under the warranty call us a 204-661-4046 or e-mail at sales@satmancanada.com. We will make arrangements for your unit to be shipped to the service center. An initial fee of $25.00 will be charged for shipping to the center. Your unit will be repaired/replaced as needed. Upon completion of work we will advise you of additional charges usually $40-$50. Normal turn-a-round time is 4 to 5 weeks.

WARNING: When you buy a FTA receiver from SatmanCanada your receiver will be sent to you with the latest software and firmware available at the time when the unit is manufactured. Viewsat does not support third-party software, and if used, it will void the manufacturer's warranty. Please note that receiver software may be incompatible across various models. If you upload the wrong software and create a problem with the receiver, this will not only void your warranty but may make your receiver inoperable. File transfer errors are entirely the user's responsibility and SatmanCanada not responsible for any problems that may result. To avoid invalidating your warranty, contact your dealer or distributor to have factory-trained technician upload software to your receiver. Only official software and upgrades available from the Official Viewsat Website (www.viewsatusa.com) can be used with your receiver. Under no circumstances, should any other software be used .

FreeTech, Inc. provides rapid after service on all new and used CoolSat products in the United States/Canada. Please refer to the limited warranty statement included in the CoolSat manual for specific terms and conditions. The warranty period begins on the original date of purchase (original purchase receipt require), applies to the original purchaser, and covers defects in material or workmanship. If the unit(s) fails during this period, FreeTech, Inc. will review the defect by case by case for repair or replacement require during the warranty period only at our cost.

Prior to requesting service

Many of the CoolSat may be actually defect-free. Often, there are configuration issues or corrupt data caused in the unit to malfunction. Before you send your unit(s) in for repair service, we suggest that you try the consult with near by FTA installer. Many times inconvenience caused by illegal 3rd party file might cause the unit to not function properly and will void the warranty automatically.

The above procedures are for warranty service and the customer will be responsible for any costs associated with non-warranty conditions. FreeTech, Inc reserves the right to make final decisions regarding problem determination and the appropriate service option. Verification of purchase receipt is required prior to the completion of service. Please refer to your FreeTech, Inc. limited warranty statement on our CoolSat manual and on our website (www.coolsatusa.com) for complete terms and conditions.

We do not provide or condone the use of third party software. Using third party software may be illegal and void product warranty. Do not email or call asking about DN, DTV, etc. Our satellite receivers are designed and intended for 100% legal use only. We will refuse sale to anyone whom we believe intends to use our product illegally or sell our products for illegal use.

Star Choice and Bell Express Vu are the only licensed services in Canada. Satmancanada.com believes that supporting these services helps thousands of Canadians employed in the film industry because 5% of all subscriptions go to the Canadian Television Production Fund.

COD Policy

Satman will ship COD to customers who have done COD orders PRIOR to 15 September, 2007 . Alternatives to COD are payment by money order in advance , direct bank account deposit ,or payment by e-mail.
